There are so many different options when it comes to shapes and sizes of cigars. I sometimes come across product pages online and see 15 or 20 different configurations. How is a beginner supposed to choose? Is there a good recommendation of size or shape of cigar for a beginner to start out with?

I typically hand my friends who aren't as experienced a Churchill or lancero, something smaller gauged. They consider it less intimidating. However, I started on toros and now favor belicosos or other figurados.

I would agree with a Robusto or Toro. I typically will start off any new cigar I'm trying in Robusto (if available since some are made in only a few sizes). It's less expensive and is a great intro to the blend.

I would recommend a robusto or toro - they are the most popular sizes and I think they will give you a solid baseline for any blend that you plan on smoking.
